Mother and son shot, robbed by bandits

A mother and her 25-year-old son were terrorised and shot last evening during a robbery at their 18th Street Foulis, East Coast Demerara home and up to press time they were both being treated for their wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The young man, Prem Nauth, was shot in the region of his hip while his mother sustained a gunshot wound to the left forearm.

“My son was driving the minibus and turning in the yard,” the mother said. “The small one come out to open the gate and we drive in. And I hear [my smaller son] hollering. Then this person just come up to me and start hitting me all over. I had my hand up to bar him. He take away the handbag… Then I didn’t see that one back. I see the other one with the gun. He put the gun to my [big] son head and I was saying don’t shoot he, don’t shoot he,” the sobbing woman recounted.

“He was asking me where is the money… I was saying to them don’t kill he. He was running to me and my son. The one that took the bag disappear,” the terrified woman tearfully related.

She woman said that the bandits took more than $100,000, the proceeds from the day’s business.
