A post-mortem examination (PME) conducted on murdered Garden of Eden farmer Bhim Narine Ramanand has concluded that he was stabbed in the heart.

According to the police, a PME was conducted by pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh on Wednesday and he gave Ramanand’s cause of death as perforation of the heart due to a stab wound to the chest.

No arrests have been made in connection with the man’s death.

Ramanand’s lifeless, wounded body was found in his yard at Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara (EBD) around 9.30 am last Sunday with his hands tied behind his neck with a rope.

While robbery was not ruled out as a motive, relatives told this newspaper that the man’s death may be connected to a recent court matter in which judgment was passed in his favour.

The remigrant, who holds United States citizenship, had taken his former tenant to court over a sum of money which the tenant owed him.

Relatives related that Ramanand had rented the bottom flat of his house to the man while he was residing in the US.

However, when he returned to these shores, he discovered that the man was not paying the rent.

The court subsequently awarded judgment in Ramanand’s favour.

However, the former tenant could not be located and neighbours told Stabroek News that the individual had threatened Ramanand over the court matter.
