Dear Editor,
After reading about the youth conference on violence as reported on demerarawaves.com my organization felt that such a gesture was timely and would be far-reaching in its results.
We however were reliably informed of Mr Gerhard Ramsaroop’s withdrawal from the line-up of facilitators and the consideration being given to the revocation of her participation by Dr Faith Harding.
The contention it appears, and rightly so, is the chairing of these proceedings by Mr Annan Boodram of the USA who is seen as an apologist for the ruling party and worrisome allegations in relation to him.
Should Mr Boodram continue in a leading capacity in the proposed conference then we believe that the objectives outlined will be seriously compromised and this will just be another grandstanding effort.
We therefore call for the withdrawal of Mr Annan Boodram as chair for the youth conference.
