Linden call centre is in trouble

Dear Editor,

I am very disturbed to learn that the Linden call centre is in serious trouble and that they are losing their international contract. Toucan Connections Inc along with their St Kitts Caribbean international business are going to lose their international connections and market due to the protracted unrest.

The Guyana government established the first ever call centre in Region 10, Linden, so as to further develop the mining town and create additional employment opportunities. More than one hundred persons are directly employed while about three hundred persons benefit from the operation of Toucan Connections Inc.

I am worried because Ms Smith called to tell me that she wants to go to work but her life is threatened by the protestors. Further, old Aunt Rutherford said her daughter is not working and as such there are only a few scrapings in the kitchen. Some youths who are living over the river reported to me that they cannot cross the river by boat because they are being threatened, along with the high cost to cross by the ‘tugs.‘  Mr White said a group of neatly dressed youths were not allowed to cross the bridge because of many hooligans with weapons.

The situation in Linden is getting out of hand.   It is time that we have constructive dialogue with those who are respectable and honest.

Yours faithfully,
Neil Kumar JP MP
