Essequibo carpenter dies weeks after fall from pick-up

A carpenter, who had fallen from an open back pick-up on the Jibb Public Road, Esse-quibo, on August 22, succumbed to his injuries on Monday at the Georgetown Hospital after being hospitalized for 26 days.

Dead is 24 year-old, Balkarran Kissoon, of Walton Hall, Essequibo, who was on his way home when the accident occurred. Relatives stated that he sustained head and neck injuries and was unconscious until the time of his death. The driver of the pick-up is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Balkarran, who was a carpenter by profession, was in his employer’s vehicle at the time of the accident. They were returning home from Charity when the accident occurred. His relatives said they did not know much about what transpired but learnt that he fell off the pick-up. They also related that Kissoon was apparently drunk at the time of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle had also assisted Kissoon’s family with the expenses they incurred. Kissoon was the eldest of four children.
