Margaret Osborne chalks up a century

The Ocean View Hotel was, on Saturday last the venue for a special celebration to mark the birth anniversary of centenarian Margaret Irene Osborne, who realized that significant milestone on Friday September 21.

Several generations including her three children, grandchildren and relatives residing overseas put in an appearance to help celebrate the accomplishment. In her brief interview with Stabroek News ‘Nenen’ as she is known to those close to her reflected on growing up at Hague on the West Bank Demerara, learning to sew and being a seamstress for several years. She also revealed that her brother, who was born in 1905, also had the good fortune of becoming a centenarian. Nenen lived at Linden with her husband until his death and now resides in Georgetown. She thoroughly enjoys the occasional car ride around the city, apart from which she is entirely content to “give thanks” for the blessing of long life.

Nenen is pictured here with a group of family members who attended the big occasion at the Ocean View Hotel and offered glowing tributes, praising her kindness, generosity and giving spirit.
