In the issue of the Stabroek News of 17th August, 2012, a news item was published under the heading `Family questioning Diamond man’s suicide’ from which inference could be drawn, not intended by Stabroek News, but imputing upon the character of the wife of the deceased and attributing to her knowledge of the circumstance of his death beyond that which was available to the police. Stabroek News expresses its regret to the wife of the deceased for this unintended imputation and apologises to her for any embarrassment this may have caused her.
