Mohammed was attacked by members of a group called the ‘Five Star Gang’ at the West Bank community last Monday evening. The incident stemmed from a feud Mohammed had with the leader of the gang after his girlfriend was robbed of her gold chain some time last year. The young man and a friend left their homes to purchase items at a shop in the area earlier in the evening last Monday and soon encountered the gang. Reports are that his friend argued with members of the gang and Mohammed later parted them.

The group left and subsequently returned and attacked the young man and his friend during which Mohammed ran away from his attackers who were armed with knives. He fell in a drain and one of the boys plunged a knife into his abdomen. He died on the way to the West Demerera Regional Hospital (WDRH).

The police subsequently arrested two of the suspects but one was later released.

]The suspect, who is said to be younger than 16 years, is expected to be placed before the courts shortly.
