Armed men rob overseas-based Guyanese of cell phone

An overseas-based Guyanese was robbed of his phone when two men, one who was armed with a gun, pounced on him as he was sitting on a step at Flying Fish Street, Festival City, around 2 am yesterday.

David Marcus was robbed at his brother’s home of a Nokia 700 touch screen phone as he was sitting on the step taking some fresh air. The man also said that they bandits tried to relieve him of his two gold and diamond rings but failed due to the resistance he put up.

In relating what transpired, Marcus said he had left his brother inside the house about 20 minutes earlier and gone to sit on the steps. He said he was talking to his brother but he apparently fell asleep during the conversation.

As he sat on the step he suddenly saw a guy standing next to him with a gun and by the time he realized what was happening, his accomplice came up on the other side of the step.

The man with the gun then pointed it at him while the other man tried to pull his two finger rings off. He said he put up a fight with the men who hit him in his head and face as he screamed for help. His brother then went to his assistance, but the men jumped over the fence and made their escape.

Marcus was treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital and sent away.

The police are currently investigating the matter.
