Guard accused of breaking into friend’s home

A security guard was yesterday accused of burgling a friend’s home to steal his passport.

It is alleged that Terry Clement, 23, of Lot 7 D’urban Street, Lodge, on November 11, in Wortmanville, Lodge, broke and entered the dwelling house of Bryan Clarke. It is also alleged that he stole a passport, numbered R0288830, which was the property of Clarke.

Clement denied the charge of burglary when he was brought before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who consented to his release on bail.

According to Prosecutor Seon Blackman, Clarke secured his premises and proceeded to attend to some private matters. He returned later that night and found the door of the house was broken. He subsequently made a report to police, which led to Clement’s arrest.

Blackman had no objections to bail, which was set at $100,000.

Clement is to return before the court on November 30 for reports and fixtures.
