Family yet to claim Bourda vagrant’s body

The Bourda Market vagrant found dead on Merriman’s Mall on Sunday has been identified as William Chung but to date no one has come forward to claim the body.

When Stabroek News visited the hospital on Sunday, the body was being removed from a Lyken’s Funeral Par-lour hearse to be pronounced dead on arrival. The parlour said that though the police have provided the man’s name no relative has come forward to claim the body.

This newspaper understands that on Sunday, Chung had reportedly been sitting near Guynaz Trading when he fell ill and was seen coughing up large amounts of blood. One vendor, who declined to provide his name, said when the man started to gasp he and other vendors quickly contacted the hospital but the man died while awaiting the ambulance.

“He didn’t dead right away he cough up a set a blood if yah look over the road we had to cover it with sand; he does normally be around the area but me ain’t know exactly what happen to he,” the vendor said.
Another vendor who gave her name as Savitri said Chung was about 5”3’tall, of mixed race and that he had a beard. She also said the man often walked around the area and consuming alcohol and that it was believed that he used cocaine.
