Brazilian killed, two hurt in Buck Hall collision

A Brazilian is dead and two other persons are injured after an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and a truck collided at Waini Road, Buck Hall, Essequibo River on Wednesday.

The dead man was identified by police as Elenildo Ferreira, 33, but no details were provided on the identity, condition or whereabouts of the two injured men. Stabroek News was reliably informed that one of the injured is a Brazilian while the other is a Guyanese.

Police, who are investigating the accident, said it occurred around 2:30pm as Ferreira and the two injured men were travelling on the ATV, which collided with the truck that was proceeding in the opposite direction.

The driver of the truck is in police custody assisting with the investigations, police noted, while adding that no further information was available. When contacted earlier yesterday all Crime Chief Seelall Persaud could say was that police received a report of an accident at Buck Hall in which one man had perished. He said that he was not in receipt of any other information.

Up to press time this newspaper was unable to get further details from senior police officials.
