Couple accused of stealing, selling beers

Baldeo Suknandan and Hafeeza Khan were yesterday charged with stealing two cases of Banks beer and unlawfully selling them.

Suknandan, a taxi service owner and Khan, a dispatcher both pleaded not guilty to the charges when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The court was told that on December 19, 2012, at Grove, East Bank of Demerara, the two committed the offences.

Prosecutor Venetta Pindar had no objections to bail, which was set at $20,000 each.
Their case will be called again on December 24, 2012, at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
