Suspect held in Tiger Creek chopping death

Police say that they have arrested one person suspected of murdering 29-year-old miner Travis De Souza at Tiger Creek Puruni River, Region Seven.
The suspect was found with 10 grammes of cocaine and 110 grammes of marijuana.

The police said in a press release that investigations are ongoing and the suspect is in custody assisting the investigations.

De Souza and his girlfriend Shanti (only name given) were in their camp and around 4 am on Saturday when four men entered and began chopping him about his body. After the initial chop was fired at him, it was reported, De Souza got up and identified one of his attackers as “Matthew”.

He was reported to have said “Matthew me know you and this is what you gon do to me boy? We from the same village.” His assailants continued chopping him until he was dead, severing his fingers, ears and toes in the process.
