Hilda Beaton, also known as ‘Priya’, 25, and of Block 8, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, was charged with the murder of her reputed husband, Sam Lall, when she appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Alex Moore yesterday.
The results of a post-mortem examination performed on the man’s remains revealed he died of haemorrhage and shock due to stab wound to the heart, Lall’s relatives said yesterday.
Beaton is accused of stabbing, Lall, 23, to death after an argument at their home last Wednesday.
Lall was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The couple used to constantly have domestic problems, relatives had said.
Lall’s relatives had also claimed that he was a victim of abuse because he had a deformed hand but Beaton’s family denied the allegation saying she was the one abused.
Beaton is scheduled to return to court on November 9.
