Girls, 6 and 7, hospitalised after accidental poisoning

Officials at the Georgetown Public Hospital yesterday reported that two sisters, ages six and seven, were taken to its Accident and Emergency Unit for treatment after they accidentally ingested a pesticide.

Both girls were said to be unresponsive when they were brought to the hospital at around 2:45 yesterday afternoon.

However, Stabroek News understands that after being treated and taken to the hospital’s Paediatric Ward, they eventually regained the strength to sit up and interact with relatives.

The hospital also noted that both girls are responding very well to the treatment they are receiving.
