Wismar/Christianburg Secondary School win ‘Screw’ Richmond tournament

Marmaleque Davidson’s second half strike in the 70th minute propelled Wismar/Christianburg Secondary  to a 1-0 win over  New Silver city Secondary  and their first ever Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Memorial Linden Schools Under 19 football championship at the Wisburg Secondary School ground Thursday.

Davidson, the competition’s leading marksman, scored his 12th goal with a well taken header in the six yard area following a throw in close to the corner flag by captain Travis ‘Babylon’ Dryden.

In the third place matchup, Linden Technical Institute (LTI) defeated Harmony Secondary 5-4 on penalty kicks after both teams had scored a goal each at the end of regulation and extra time.

Chairman of the United States-based Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Foundation, Ernest Joseph, handed over the championship trophy and replicas to the winning team.

The second and third place finishers also received trophies and replicas as did the individual prizes winners.

Davidson, who was already the event’s leading goal scorer, also collected the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Dryden was awarded the best defender prize while Anthony Lane was adjudged the best midfielder.

Dwaylon Farrel collected the best coach honours while Harmony Secondary was rewarded for being the most disciplined team in the competition.
