Racing body to register two-year-old horses

As part of its ongoing process to regularize the ‘Sport of Kings’ locally, the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA) will visit several race courses across the country this weekend to register all two-year old horses.

According to a release, the GHRA looks forward to the cooperation of stable owners and trainers in ensuring that their horses are present at the venues.

Today, the GHRA team which will include Honorary President, Cecil Kennard will visit the Port Mourant race track from 13:00hrs followed by the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club at from 15:00hrs.

Tomorrow, the team will be at the Norman Singh’s Memorial Turf Club from 09:00hrs, then move over to the Rising Sun Turf Club from 11:00 hrs.

The release further stated that should any horse owner or trainer fail to have his horse registered, that horse will not be allowed to participate in any race meet organized and run under the auspices of the GHRA.

According to Kennard, the GHRA is hoping for the full cooperation of all in trying to move the sport forward.

Meanwhile, the GHRA has established a Secretarial Unit at the Kennard Memorial Turf Club, Bush Lot, Corentyne.

An Assistant Secretary is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 08:00hrs to 12:00hrs to assist anyone requiring information concerning classification and registration of horses and any other related matter.
