Food for the Poor seeks to boost hinterland agriculture

In an effort to assist various communities in the hinterland regions, Food For The Poor Incorporated on Friday donated a quantity of agricultural tools to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.

Norman Whittaker, Minister in the Ministry of Local Government stated that the ministry aims to reach out to people in communities across the country. He added that the focus recently has been on the hinterland regions which include regions one, seven and eight. He stated that these regions also take part in agricultural activities and farmers seek assistance. With the donation of various pieces of equipment, farmers would then benefit immensely.

He continued that the hinterland regions are quite difficult to reach thus the ministry will act as a channel through which the equipment can be distributed. Vincent added the development of the communities in the hinterland regions is vital, as with this there would be the creation of more jobs.
