Telephone not fixed since early July

Dear Editor,

I am a pensioner of Lot 199 ‘D’ Bush Lot Village, West Coast Berbice and I’d like to report a problem I am facing with my telephone service: no 232-0199.

It stopped working on May 11 and after several calls to the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Co. it was fixed on July 2. But on July 15 the phone line was again disrupted.

Several other calls were made again and after no technician showed up as promised I even decided to visit the GT&T office in New Amsterdam. Again there were promises that a technician would come to rectify the problem but to date no one has showed up.

Editor, I am 71 years old and I cannot be running after these people all the time. Besides, I have to find the money to pay for a service that I am not benefiting from.

I do hope that the company can look into this problem as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully,
Gangaram Singh
