Dear Editor,
Congratulations to the new 63 Beach Regatta Committee. They pulled off an exciting day of fun and had a packed programme of land and water activities.
The water activities were a bit disappointing; owing to the tide and roughness of the water only six events came off. There were four power-boat races and two Jet-ski races; there was a tremendous crowd on the beach and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Berbicians are hungry for this type of water sport, and I urge the regatta committee to keep it up. The committee would be well advised next time to check with the moon and the neap tide. They should also build a tower, so the officials, MC and cameras could observe what is going on.
Start the regatta at 11am and finish at 3pm. Hold an after-regatta show with a band on stage. The Power-boat Racing Association is behind the committee, and the Ministry of Tourism should take note. Let’s work together and make the regatta in Corentyne a big success in the cause of 63 Beach development.
I love Skeldon but the restaurant service is too slow.
See you again next year at a bigger regatta on 63 Beach.
Yours faithfully,
Winston Miller Sr
