Michael Wong, 38, of Kumaka Stretch in the North West District is alleged to have had in his possession 22 grammes of cannabis, on December 15.

According to the man’s lawyer, the substance was not found on him but rather on the premises that he share with his common-law wife.

However, Prosecutor Deniro Jones reported to Magistrate Ann McLennan that after a search was conducted on the premises, the substance was found on the vanity in the defendant’s bedroom. The defendant subsequently confessed that the substance belonged to him and that it had been in his possession for a long time, Jones said.

Wong was remanded to prison  until today when he is to make an appearance in Court One at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
