At about 22:30 hrs on Sunday, police said, Wesley Griffith, 18, of Determa Street, Mackenzie, was at home when a man rode up on a motorcycle and called out for him.
Police said that as Griffith approached, the man pulled out a firearm and discharged several shots in his direction, hitting Griffith to his right thigh, before escaping.
Griffith has been admitted a patient at the Mackenzie Hospital.
Investigations are in progress, police said.
