A driver, Dexter Rutherford, was on Monday charged with unlawfully assaulting a woman.
Rutherford, 32, of Lot 7 Public Road, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, was admitted to bail in the sum of $15,000 after he pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Alan Wilson at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that on February 23, at Ruimveldt, Rutherford unlawfully assaulted Abiola Shepherd, so as to cause her actual bodily harm.
Police Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick did not object to Rutherford being released on bail, which was granted and the case was adjourned until March 13.
