Habitat for Humanity, Adventist Relief Agency partner to help underprivileged communities

Habitat for Humanity Guyana Inc. (HfHG) and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency Guyana (ADRA) have formalised a partnership to develop underprivileged communities around the country.

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding to this end on Thursday at the Guyana Conference of Seventh Day Adventists Headquarters in Queenstown, saying it signals the continuation of a relationship which began at the regional level in 2010.

According to a press release from HfHG, the two organizations will collaborate to design and implement programmes in various areas, inclusive of housing construction, disaster risk reduction and management, advocacy, and community development.

HfHG and ADRA are both dedicated to helping the less fortunate, it said. “With HfHG working in the area of housing and shelter and ADRA focusing on development and relief, this partnership will enable both organizations to impact the lives of people at the community and national level,” the release said. It added that this will be facilitated through research, training, and implementation of programmes designed to address livelihood challenges in underprivileged communities.
