MP’s son shot, robbed of $2M

Abdalla Hamilton, the son of governing party Member of Parliament (MP) Joseph Hamilton, was yesterday shot during a robbery at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, in which the perpetrators made off with $2 million.

Police said the 29-year-old man was sitting in a parked motor vehicle around 1:05pm, when he was approached by a man armed with a hand gun, who shot him and carted off the money.

When Stabroek News visited Hamilton at the Georgetown Public Hospital, his condition was said to be critical. He sustained a single gunshot to the left leg. However, the bullet exited and penetrated his right leg, which left him nursing double gunshot wounds.

Hamilton, of Section ‘K’ Campbellville, had just visited the bank when he was attacked by the assailant who escaped on a motorbike driven by another man, his brother Azariah Asim said.
Up to the time Stabroek News spoke to relatives, suspects in the robbery were believed to be on the run.
