GYO win Banks Malta U13 competition

The Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO)  on Sunday defeated Transport Sports Club by 45 runs to win the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Under13 Banks Malta Supreme sponsored limited overs tournament.

Played at the GYO ground, GYO, batting first, scored 120-5 from their allotted 25 overs. They received a further 200 runs as per the rules of the competition but because they lost five wickets in the process, they were deducted some 50 runs leaving their eventual score at 270-5.
In GYO’s 120-5 Pradesh Balkishun top scored with 21 while Anil Singh chipped in with 15.

Bowling for Transport Sports Club Randy Persaud picked up 2-22 while Joel Spooner, Tony Adjodha and Ronaldo Jaisingh each grabbed a wicket.
Needing 271 to win the title, Transport Sports Club  posted 285 but lost six wickets in the process which resulted in a 60-run deduction leaving them on 225.

Adrian Hinds scored 21 but no other player except Mark Baptiste, who made nine, was able to make a useful contribution with the bat.
Balkishun grabbed 3-9 from his two overs.

His all round performance enabled him to cart off the Most Valuable Player of the match award while Hinds was adjudged the best bowler of the final.

Elnatan Sooknandan was adjudged the best bowler of the competition, Hinds, the best batsman of the competition  and Nicholas Sattaur the best all rounder of the competition. Sachin Premchand  also picked up an award for capturing the most wickets.
