Guyana A win Goodwill table tennis series in Suriname

Guyana A table tennis team played unbeaten to win a specially arranged Goodwill table tennis series recently in Suriname.

The A team comprising national champion Nigel Bryan, Edinho Lewis and  Natalie Cummings played unbeaten in the four team round robin event.

Playing against Suriname  B on October 17 Guyana A  won 3-0 while Guyana B comprising Elishaba Johnson, Jamaal Duff and Sunil Logan lost to Suriname A 2-3.

In the final round on October 21 Guyana A beat Suriname A 3-2 and Guyana B beat Suriname B 3-0.

After the Goodwill tournament, Suriname Table Tennis Association President Desire Hooghart, donated several pairs of Xiom Omega Rubbers to the Guyanese players on behalf of the STTA.

According to a press release from the Guyana Table Tennis Association, Hooghart said that he was happy that the tournament was contested adding that the competitive level was tremendous.

The tournament, he said was significant because it is part of the developmental process for his players at this level. Hooghart said the tournament meant a lot to the players and for the effort they have been putting in to move the sport forward.
