He said he took defensive action pulling away from the car, PJJ 9082, but it slammed into the side of the bus near the back, which then toppled twice before it landed on its top.  “I see the car coming swinging and I tried to clear the front of the bus but then I feel hit at the back wheel and the bus spin around in the opposite direction and topple,” he said. His wife, her mother and another relative, who were with him, were trapped in the vehicle.

“People were coming and help us out and I crawl through the broken windscreen and help my wife out,” Shalim Manan said, adding that they rushed to pull the driver out of the car and discovered that he was dressed in police uniform.

A man working at a nearby wash-bay said that he saw the car speeding before one of its tyres blew out, causing the driver to lose control and hit the bus.
