Linden Town Day will hold a regatta

Dear Editor,

The Linden Town Day will be held in April-May. They have formed a new regatta committee, and as an experienced person in this sport since 1987 I was invited to a special meeting with the committee where discussions were held to host a successful regatta. I was given the responsibility of coordinating the power boat and jet ski races; I have already contacted the Pomeroon racers.

Bartica, Suriname and Skeldon racers are all excited about the Linden regatta. This regatta will be held on May 4 at the bandstand by the old Aluminum Plant Demerara River.

The events are listed as follows:

3 – Open races, 6 laps

3 – 75 – 90 races, 5 laps

3 – 40 HP races, 4 laps

3 – Jet ski races, 8 laps each

1 – Swimming race

1 – Paddle boat race

There will be strict supervision by MARAD and the Power Boat Racing Association and police. A good day of racing awaits spectators, and I do hope this will become an annual event for Lindeners.

Yours faithfully,
Winston Miller Sr
