Three seriously injured after West Coast collision

At least three persons were seriously injured after a collision between a minibus and a car at Ruimzigt, West Coast Demerara last night.

A total of nine persons were reported to have been injured in the accident, including the driver of the car, Kishun (only name) and his friend, Wazim Khan, 31, who were both said to have received head injuries. They were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, along with another person, who was an occupant of the minibus.

The circumstances surrounding the accident up to press time last night were unclear but this newspaper was told that the minibus was proceeding along the public road from Georgetown while the car was heading to Georgetown, when the two vehicles collided.

The other injured persons, who were occupants of the minibus, were taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Some were treated and sent away, while others were admitted but they were not seriously injured.
