Berbice Jehovah’s Witnesses to host annual convention this weekend

A world government: why do we need one? Is it possible? And who is qualified to rule? This and other topics will be discussed when the Berbice District of Jehovah’s Witnesses holds its annual convention, this weekend.

This year’s event is of added importance to Jehovah’s Witnesses, as it will mark the centennial anniversary of the start of ‘God’s Kingdom rule’, according to that denomination’s belief.

Under the theme ‘Keep Seeking first God’s Kingdom,’ based on Jesus’ words as recorded in Matthew CH 6 vs. 33 of the Holy Bible, the convention will be held from tomorrow to Sunday at Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club, Bush Lot Corentyne. “The reason why we chose that as our theme is based on biblical as well as historical evidence that will really help us to appreciate the practical benefits of seeking first God’s kingdom,” said News Service Overseer Andrew Ramdin.
