Chainsaw operator charged with having army haversack

A man accused of unlawful possession of a military haversack was yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $100,000 when he appeared before city magistrate Judy Latchman.

The charge against Birtie Stoll is that on September 2, he unlawfully acquired a haversack that was military store of the Guyana Defence Force.

Stoll, who resides at Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, denied the charge when it was read to him.

No facts other than those stated in the charge were presented to the court.

Stoll, a father of seven, works as a chainsaw operator.

The prosecution had no objections to him being granted bail, which was set at $100,000. His matter will be called again on September 8 at Court One.
