Linden man says needed ganja after row with girlfriend

A Linden man on Wednesday copped to ganja possession and told a city court that he needed it to “ease” his mind after a fight with his girlfriend.

Lawrence St. John pleaded guilty to the possession of narcotics charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court One.

The charge against him stated that on September 7, he was found with five grammes of cannabis during a search by the police. “Me and my girl had ah lil argument and I need it to ease my mind,” St. John said after he pleaded guilty.

St. John was subsequently fined $3,000 and was also ordered to do six months of community service at the Wismar Police Station.
