Five GCA matches planned for weekend

The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) competition continues this weekend with five matches set for venues across the city.

Four games will be played in the Hadi’s World Incorporated First Division level in two tournaments and one Noble House Seafoods Second Division two-day match. At the first division level, there will be four matches with the most competitive match expected to be a clash between the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and the Guyana National Industrial and Commerce (GNIC) teams at Bourda.

Collis Butts, son of former West Indies player Clyde Butts, will lead the GNIC unit which will field an experienced team boasting players such as Shawn De Souza, Clyde Butts, David Dick, Ovid Richardson and former national youth skipper Dexter Solomon. Meanwhile GCC, known for its consistency at this level, will have Vishal ‘Cheesy’ Singh, Gavin Singh, Joshua Wade and Elon Fernandes in its side.

Other first division matches planned are the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Transport Sports Club (TSC) game at DCC ground; Everest will host the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) and the army unit (GDF) will visit Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC). All matches are set for 9.30am on Saturday and Sunday.

The only second division match will see GNIC and TSC face off at GYO ground at Woolford Avenue from 11am on Saturday and Sunday.
