Works Ministry prepping estimate for Stabroek stelling repairs

Public Works Minister Robeson Benn and a team of engineers from the Work Services Group and the Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD), yesterday inspected the dilapidated Stabroek Market Stelling with a view to providing a Bill of Quantities to the Mayor and City Council to renovate the structure.

According to a press release from the ministry, the City Council is responsible for maintaining the stelling.

T&HD engineers are assessing the pillings and substructures while engineers from the Work Services Group are focusing on the superstructure (walls and roof).

They will then prepare an estimate advising the ministry and City Council of the possible cost for rehabilitating the waterfront facility. The Bill of Quantities is expected to be submitted to the minister on Monday.
