Boston was given a chance to explain to the court what happened on the day of the incident. He replied that he was employed at K&B Mining Company from October 12 to October 29, when he was injured on the excavator machine he was working on. He added that during his period of employment another geological company had asked K&B Mining to remove all the items they had on their premises. The company removed the items but left a box. Boston said he then took an 8 horsepower Yamaha engine, a tank and a quantity of medical supplies from the box.

When asked why he stole the items, Boston said he needed money to seek medical attention. He said too that he had been beaten by the security guard after the items were discovered missing. Some of the items were recovered.

After taking into consideration that Boston saved the court’s time by pleading guilty and that some of the items were recovered, the magistrate sentenced Boston to 9 months imprisonment.
