Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly appointed

President Donald Ramotar has formally appointed Hermina Gilgeours as Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly.

According to a press release from Parliament, the appointment took effect from November 10. Gilgeours had been acting in the capacity of deputy clerk since the resignation of Lilawatie Coonjah in May 2013. As one of the longest serving parliamentary staff, Gilgeours began her tenure on August 4, 1997 and held several positions including Research and Analytical Assistant and Assistant Clerk of the National Assembly.

In accepting her appointment, Gilgeours the holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Management, expressed her gratitude to all those her supported her along the journey. Gilgeours’ mentor, Clerk of the National Assembly Sherlock Isaacs said, “She is proficient, efficient and produces work of high standards” and he hopes to continue to work closely with her with respect to parliamentary procedures until he is ready to demit office in the not too distant future, the release said..
