Dynas Ravens ousts Trinity Pacesetters

Dynas Ravens sent arch-rivals Trinity Grid Holdings (TGH) Pacesetters packing from the third annual Phillip George Legacy tournament, clinching the must win preliminary round matchup 72-65 on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Akeem Kanhai led the winners with 20 points while Dominic Vicente supported with an invaluable 19 points. Stephon Gillis was the top scorer for TGH Pacesetters as he shot his way to 13 points while Travis Burnette supported with 11 points.

Also netting 10 points each in the loss was Joslyn Crawford and Naylon Loncke. In the third fixture of the night, tourney hosts Colts maintained their perfect tourney record, defeating Pepsi Sonics by a 77-67 score line.

Netting 20 points in the victory was Shane Webster while the efficient Dave Causway, Shelroy Thomas and Nikkoloi Smith contributed 19, 13 and 10 points respectively. Trevor Smith scored 19 points in the loss while Jason Squires and Collis Pluck netted 16 and 15 points respectively.

Republic Bank Nets also continued their unbeaten run in the event as they defeated Georgetown Masters by a 71-65 margin in the night’s second showdown.

Mortimer Williams shot his way to 16 points in the victory for the Mandela Avenue-based unit while the trio of Pelham Doris, Antwaun Austin and Sheldon Howell netted 12, 11 and 10 points correspondingly.

Registering a game high 21 points in the loss was Lugard Mohan while Aubrey Younge supported with 12 points. In the opening game, Victory Valley Royals of Linden blew away Melanie Patriots 108-37.

Chris Williams marshalled the offence with 28 points whilst Marlon Adams and Marlon Pollydore were the next best scorers for the victors with 24 and 18 points respectively. Completing the large win with 13 points each was Ron Beckles and Bonny Wilson.

Sherlan Legal was the main scoring threat for the losers as he netted a game high 37 points while Rayburn Bower and Floyd Arthur supported with 10 and nine points respectively. Action in the tourney is slated to continue at the same venue on Friday.
