Four charged over neighbourhood feuds

Four persons appeared yesterday before Magis-trate Geeta Chandan- Edmond charged over neighbourhood brawls.

In one case, Surrendra Mahadeo and his common-law wife Natisha Haimchand of 210 Independence Boulevard alleged that on April 30, Fazela Baldeo used abusive language towards them and threatening language to Haimchand. Baldeo countered with an abusive language allegation against the two as the matter was heard.

Mahadeo, 33, a cattle farmer, pleaded not guilty as did Haimchand who is a vendor with three children. Baldeo, 43, a housewife who is married with two children and who lives next door to the couple at 209 Independence Boulevard, also pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trio were bonded to keep the peace and placed on self-bail.

The matter will be called again in Court Ten on May 27.

Meanwhile, Sharmila Rahim of Lot 7 Yarrow Dam, North Ruimveldt was alleged to have used abusive language towards her neighbour Hemwattie Ramroop breaching a bond to keep the peace on April 27.

Magistrate Chandan-Edmond placed her on self-bail and bonded her to keep the peace. Rahim is also to return to Court 10 on May 27 for further hearing.
