No plan yet for Town Week 2015

There is a cloud of uncertainty over the Linden Town Week for 2015. “I can’t say what would happen for Linden Town Week in 2015,” Chairman of the Linden IMC told journalists at a press conference on Friday 2 January.

Gordon said basically the Linden Town Week in 2013 and 2014 “were not good,” before adding “a euphemism that they were not as good as they should be, or as we have come to expect them to be.”

Stating that 2014 could have been a lot better than 2013, Gordon said although the financial statement was prepared and circulated, it, unfortunately has not been discussed, or defended. “So, we are going forward … without that being sorted out.”

He said that the recent town week programmes have been plagued by personality differences by people, who think that they should play prominent roles in planning, organizing and running of the event.

“Unfortunately … the issues of personality and so on, creeping into these things and destroying all of these institutions that have been built up over the years and this is not good for the community.

He said that people from the USA are calling for information on the 2015 Linden Town Week but the municipality is in no position to give them any credible information.

Gordon said an advertisement had been put on television asking people to put up proposals to run the town week but no proposal has been submitted to the Town Council.
