Bandits snatch $600,000 GNIC salaries

At about 1535h yesterday, the police say that clerk Darren Bryan and security guard Oslen Clarke who are attached to the GNIC, Lombard Street, Georgetown, were attacked and robbed in the GNIC compound by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

The police say that investigations have revealed that Bryan was in possession of salaries for workers and was being escorted by Clarke to the payment area when the two perpetrators entered the compound and held them at gunpoint.

Clarke was shot to his left foot and his service .32 revolver and rounds taken away. The police say that Bryan was assaulted and a bag with $600,000 taken away by the men who escaped on a motor cycle.

Investigations are in progress.
