Yes you may! the 11th!

By Aquarius and Taurus – The Hecklers

Hello Electors, Voters, Citizens from the Commonwealth who could vote here after only one year in our business, Jehovah Witnesses who don’t like Elections or Earthly Leaders and even all those Guyanese under eighteen, we are Aquarius and Taurus.

We were born in January and May. Now May is the month of the Arrival of our earliest Indian forefathers, the month of Labour Day and the month of Independence. It used to be the month of fairs and Maypole plaiting an important month for Guyana by any standard.

On the eleventh day of next May, those over 18 and on the Final Voters List will be able to choose Parties and Leaders they hope can manage their affairs in the interest of the Green Land of Guyana. NOT Green merely as in APNU and Mr. Granger’s shirt!

Today we begin to peek into the lighter side of the serious business of our democracy – elections and their campaigns by the contenders – ENJOY!

 THEIR VERY FIRST TIME…

Victor and Varshnie were childhood schoolmates, classmates, friends, then young sweet-hearts from the same village.

At sixteen, Varshnie’s age of consent, they both knew that both families would disapprove of their life’s plans. So they planned to wait until they were both eighteen – Guyana’s age of adulthood. Even by nineteen, twenty, they would make their own decision(s). Now their time was nigh. They felt ready.

The young mixed-race couple was excited, scared, confident, uncertain, fearful, composed but determined. All the books read, movies seen, internet advice, instructions and pleadings by elders could not erase the thrill of their soon to be VERY FIRST TIME. They know just where they had to meet; just what they had to use; just how to execute the pleasure – even privilege – for that very first time. What would the results be, Vic and Varsh wondered.

Surely, many of us now in middle-age, old age and senior, golden years REMEMBER OUR VERY FIRST TIME. THAT FIRST TIME WE VOTED!

Two ANIMALS are voicing concern over the unauthorized use of their heads and facial images by two of the (newer) political parties preparing to contest the May elections – the LION and the COW.

The Lion is a proud beast and a fierce big cat. He is of the view that he should have been asked by the Rastafari if they wanted to use his image. King Lion is reminding Rasta Voters that he still eats MEAT; that he loves “CARCASS”. Watch Out!

The poor cow too is hurt that he was not consulted. “No part of my body and being is spared in normal times. I provide meat, leather, glue, manure, black-pudding and souse, EVERYTHING for humans. And now even for elections,” the sad cow mooed.

The DONKEY too is offended. Even before any elections were announced one political leader told a Government Minister to HAUL HIS …….. Now a former President is advising the current one to KICK UP SOME ……… Guyana’s Jackasses and Goats are planning something big for Nomination Day. Look for them on the road on April 07.

COMING BEFORE NOMINATION DAY: JESUS THE NAZARENE AND JUAN THE BISHOP – In Linden. Meanwhile, NAME ONE DOZEN (12) POLITICAL PARTIES NOW ACTIVE IN GUYANA.

Stay Safe! Vote Wisely!
