Dear Editor,
I wish to point out that Ms. Ryhaan Shah did not ignite any debate over the role of our past, as Mr. David Hinds penned (SN, “Let’s use our ballots…,”April 28, 2015). The person Mr. Hinds is speaking about is the leader of the AFC who suggested that voters ignore PNC history to bring about change. Note, PNC history.
Of course, it did not matter that the PNC has, as a matter of policy, embraced its past and this is memorialized in a PNC document titled the “Declaration of Vreed en Hoop”. In the old days, the original AFC aspired towards a new political culture based on democratic reforms. Now it wants change. What happened?
