The President and members of the Guyana Olympic Association (G.O.A)  express their sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Andrew “Sixhead”  Lewis and the boxing fraternity at large on his passing on Monday May 04, 2015.

As an organization we recognize his contribution to the sport of Boxing.  He will forever be remembered for his outstanding performance at the Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Games, held in Mexico in 1990, where he won a silver medal in the welterweight category.

He later became a professional boxer, known for his showmanship and power, and made Guyana proud when he beat James Page in 2001 to capture the WBA Welterweight Title.  The Golden Arrowhead flew high again when he successfully defended this title against Larry Marks.

We mourn, with the rest of Guyana, his tragic and untimely death.

May his soul rest in peace.

Lewis will surely be missed by the sporting fraternity. Funeral arrangements to be announced later.
