Why should the nation be held to ransom?

Dear Editor,

It is beyond belief that this nation, after a full four-day wait for its general election results, would be mesmerized by the thinking and request of past presidents Dr Bharrat Jagdeo and Mr Donald Ramotar.

Some people are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centred. In my short life-time, I have had to navigate difficult conditions and adverse circumstances that produced such people, and as a Christian leader I have learned to forgive them.

Now, why should this entire nation be held to ransom waiting for a recount of over four hundred thousand votes cast on May 11 when all the foreign observers and local bodies declared that these elections were free and fair?

This is not good news for a nation that has grown, and is about to embrace its fiftieth independence anniversary.

Let good sense prevail and let all Guyanese embrace our newly elected 8th executive President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Mr David Granger.

 Yours faithfully,

Apostle Vanrick Beresford
