$20,000 bail for farmer accused of stealing goats

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry granted $20,000 bail to a farmer accused of stealing two goats when he on Friday appeared in court.

The Georgetown Magistrates Court 1 heard that between November 1, 2014 and May 27, 2015 at Number 7 Village, West Coast Berbice, Vijay Singh stole a goat valued $80,000 from Philander Pooran.

It is also alleged that between January 1 and May 7, 2015, Singh stole another goat valued $40,000 from Lloyd Sahadeo at Martyrs Ville, East Coast Demerara. He pleaded not guilty to the two charges.

No prosecution facts were presented.

The chief magistrate granted Singh $10,000 bail on each charge and ordered him to appear in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court on June 8.
