Gun found in Ruimveldt house after owner jumps into river

Police yesterday discovered a gun and matching round in a Riverview, Ruimveldt home but were unable to arrest the homeowner as the man jumped into the Demerara River.

Up to press time last evening, the man who is known to the police had not been captured.

The man who goes by the alias ‘Grey Boy’ had been charged several times with armed robbery and in 2012 had survived an execution attempt.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News yesterday that acting on information received police went to the man’s home around 6 am.

On seeing the cops, Blanhum said, the man ran out of the house and jumped into the river.

A search conducted on the house, he added, unearthed a .32 pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition.
