East Bank water woes continue

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) has restored the water supply, albeit at reduced levels, to areas on the East Bank of Demerara affected by the technical problems at the Covent Garden Water Treatment Plant.

According to a GWI press release, the service restoration had been accomplished by diverting water from the distribution system supplied by the GWI Providence facility into the affected areas.

It noted that customers who are currently served by the Providence facility will not be affected by the new arrangement.

GWI said its technical teams continue to work assiduously to rectify the difficulties occurring at the Covent Garden Water Treatment Plant.

Additionally, the company extended its gratitude to affected customers for their patience, while it offered apologies for the inconvenience caused and expressed its assurance to the customers that all measures are being taken to restore normal service to those being served by the Covent Garden Water Treatment Facility. Affected areas include Bagotstown, Nandy Park, Republic Park, Herstelling, sections of Great Diamond, Little Diamond, Prospect, Covent Garden, Farm, Providence, Peter’s Hall and Eccles (Old Road).
