Woman, 63, remanded on stabbing charge

A mother of 11 was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with stabbing another woman to her face.

Yvonne Collins, 63, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which states that on July 18th, she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Crystal Fletchman.

According to the prosecution’s case, on the day in question Fletchman was standing in a yard waiting for a taxi when Collins walked up to her and made inquiries concerning the use of a toilet.

Police say Fletchman refused to answer Collins, who then broke a glass bottle and dealt Fletchman a stab to her face. Fletchman suffered a gash to the right cheek as a result.

Collins, a vendor, was remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman and is expected to make her next court appearance later this month.
